Firefighter Battling OR Wildfire Killed in Helicopter Crash

A firefighter became killed in helicopter crash at the same time as scuffling with wildfires in Oregon on Monday.

The crash took place at the same time as the helicopter—a Type 1 Kmax—became engaging in bucket drops at the White River Fire in Mt. Hood National Forest in Wasco County, the U.S. Forest Service stated in a statement. The firefighter's identification hasn't been released.

"The firefighting network is heartbroken to research of this tragic loss and our condolences exit to the pilot's family, friends, and co-workers," the wooded area carrier stated.

Air and floor assets from the Waco Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Forest Service spoke back to the crash site. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration may be investigating the accident.

The White River Fire commenced Aug. 17 and had unfold throughout tough terrain. So far, the hearthplace has burned greater than 1,000 acres and is five percentage contained, in line with KGW-TV.
